Bletchley Park - Interactive Show Hall

the project

When a new interactive show was commissioned detailing Blechley Park’s involvement in the D-Day landings the only space available was the old Teleprinter Room. This is a large open space with very reflective walls, floor and ceiling.

Acoustic Advice were called in to assess the space acoustically and asked to produce a design which would resolve the long reverberation time and make it suitable for a loud soundtrack with both sustained sounds and sharp impulse sounds of explosions etc. Speech intelligibility was also a concern as the soundtrack was very informative and designed for a wide range of age interests.

the client

The difference in the sound quality of the room was instantaneous, we expected a marked improvement was wouldn’t have believed the massive difference achieved was even possible.
